چکیده
Cognitive radio (CR) is a technology exploiting knowledge from very diverse fields, such as machine learning, information theory, and wireless communications. The first part of the report introduces state-of-the-art survey on CR. It begins with survey on software defined radio (SDR), since it is the key enabling technology for future development of practical cognitive systems. Because the work within MULTI-POS WP3.1 is oriented towards implementation of CR with location awareness capabilities, the second part of the report considers related practical aspects. Primarily, it defines requirements on a prototyping platform suitable for implementation of the CR system which would be capable to process several heterogeneous radio navigation signals. Moreover, the available Commercial-Off-The-Shelf prototyping platforms are evaluated and the methodology behind the platform selection process is described. Finally, the selected prototyping platform is introduced.
